Reporting a payroll issue
What to include so it can be investigated without a second round trip.
Identify the payroll
The company name, the pay period and the pay date. A figure on its own cannot be traced back to the run that produced it.
Say what you expected
The figure or behaviour you expected and what appeared instead. For a calculation query, the employee code and the specific component — basic, overtime, allowance, bonus, PAYE, CSG, NSF.
Urgency
Say plainly whether the pay date is at risk. Anything that blocks a payroll is treated differently from a question about a past period.
What not to send
Confidentiality applies to support requests too.
Bank details and national identifiers Reference the employee by employee code. Support does not need the underlying numbers to investigate a calculation.
Passwords Nobody at Tax Grid will ask for one. A login problem is resolved by resetting the account, never by sharing it.
Whole payroll exports for unrelated companies Send only the company the issue concerns. Company data is separated in this system and support requests should respect the same boundary.
